Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider handles the query and supplies its results. We do not retain or record those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
Email messages are kept as needed to prepare and send a response. They remain within our organization unless disclosure is required by a binding legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a visitor loads a page, the servers automatically receive basic technical and usage details:
- Your device's Internet Protocol address
- The browser name and version used for the visit
- Operating-system and device-category information
- Pages opened and the time spent on them
- A referring website, when one supplied the visit
- The date and time associated with each page request
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device to help measure how people move through the website, such as which pages draw visits and where sessions end. Analytics providers combine this activity into traffic reports. You may disable cookies through the browser, although doing so can change how parts of the website function.
What We Do With This Data
- Operating, maintaining, and improving page performance
- Routing a submitted query to the applicable search partner
- Measuring which resources visitors use and where revisions may help
- Diagnosing errors, outages, and other technical problems
- Presenting advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
No database of personal criminal records is collected, maintained, or sold here. The content instead identifies Hancock County record custodians, courts, the Georgia Crime Information Center, and the Georgia Sex Offender Registry. Visitor information is not compiled into a consumer report or an outside criminal-history file. This website is not a consumer reporting agency as defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies provide the search-box services. Information submitted through a box is governed by that provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider controls its own retention and disclosure practices. Read those terms before sending a query because we cannot direct how the partner handles it.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to sheriff pages, court systems, Georgia agencies, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once you follow an external link, the destination's privacy rules apply. Review them before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may measure activity across multiple websites to select targeted advertisements. That process occurs through the provider's systems.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal information is not sold. Depending on the service used or a lawful demand, information may be received by:
- A search provider processing a query submitted through its tool
- Analytics vendors measuring website traffic and operation
- Advertising networks serving material on the pages
- A government or law-enforcement body acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, commonly used safeguards protect the information collected. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, however, so we cannot promise that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a person younger than 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such information, we will remove it promptly.
Your Data Rights
Rights may vary with the circumstances under Georgia consumer law, including the Georgia Fair Business Practices Act, O.C.G.A. §§10-1-390 through 10-1-407. At a minimum, you may:
- Request access to personal information held about you
- Seek correction of inaccurate personal information
- Ask that your personal data be deleted
- Decline certain forms of information processing
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as practices or legal requirements change. Any revised version will appear here with its new effective date, so visitors should review the page periodically.
